As the old adage goes: "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade."
Well apparently when life gave the Greeks lemons, they decided to
make soup. And thank God they did, because this soup is actually not
bad. Apparently it's the “traditional Greek family soup served by mothers and Yiá
Yiá's to their children and grandchildren”, but it turns out you can just buy it
at the store, no Yiá Yiás necessary! With a delightful mix of orzo, lemon,
and an occasional fleck of chicken, this soup is the first one I've encountered
that is somehow refreshing: definitely a summer soup. It's like chicken noodle
soup and Sprite had a baby! At $3.54, it's a little steep for a canned soup, but
I think it's worth every penny, and its far cheaper than hiring your own Yiá Yiá
to make it for you. Plus it's only 250 calories! That's only 7 points on Weight
Watchers! Grab a can today; you can thank me later.
