We're headed to my homeland this week, for a Maryland-themed classic. As a Maryland native, the only question I get more than "what side was Maryland on in the Civil War?" is "do you put Old Bay on everything?", and the answer to both of those questions is: I'd rather not talk about it. But this soup really hits the spot, doing the titular Chesapeake Bay justice. Not only is it brown and murky, just like the Bay, but it is also filled with a critically low level of clams, just like the Bay! So not only does it bring a little slice of the bay to your mouth, it also makes a subtle commentary on overfishing, which is really all you can ask from a $2.69 can of soup. The sodium phosphate really comes through at the end, providing an excellent finish to a delicate soup. This is a new addition to Campbell's Chunky lineup, and I for one hope it is here to stay. Verdict: 8/10
